Our History
Home / Our History
Since 1980, we have been making oxtail broth at the same spot, 52 Oncheonjang-ro. Having tasted oxtail soup at restaurants across the country, we now carry the story of Wonjo Kkori gomjip forward as its second generation.

Before Wonjo Kkori gomjip
Our founder first learned to make oxtail soup in the kitchen of an oxtail soup restaurant in the Chungcheong region. He often recalled seeing the President visit that restaurant.
In the 1970s he moved to Busan and opened a small oxtail eatery in Bujeon-dong, without even a sign.
- 1980
Moved to the Galbi Alley in Oncheon-dong, Dongnae-gu, at what is now 52 Oncheonjang-ro, and took the name “Wonjo Kkori gomjip.” Oxtail was still unfamiliar in Busan, and we began introducing oxtail soup to the city.
- 1990s
The height of Oncheonjang’s nightlife. Entertainers performing at the Carnegie and Big Town nightclubs used the restaurant almost as their green room, and many couples chose it for their wedding receptions.
- 2000–2020
Through Oncheonjang’s ups and downs, we became the last restaurant still standing in the Galbi Alley.
- 2022
Selected as a Baeknyeon Gage (Long-Lasting Small Business) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. On October 14 the Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups held the plaque ceremony at the restaurant.
- 2024
Registered the trademark “원조꼬리곰집” with the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
- Today
The founder’s eldest son and his wife run the restaurant as the second generation, with an unchanging taste as their first principle.
